Halibut

2009 Marine Area 4 (Neah Bay)

Open May 14, 2 days per week, Thursdays and Saturdays through May 23.  If there is available quota the fishery will be open June 4 and 6 and continue again starting Thursday, June 18 until the quota is reached.  The fishery will continue to be open as a priority in the offshore area, when there is not sufficient quota to open the fishery for one more day in the offshore area the fishery will be open in Area 4B and shoreward of a line approximating 30 fm from the Bonilla-Tatoosh line south to the Queets River.

The days described above as being opened are not guaranteed openings but will be based on the available quota.  The halibut fishery has become extremely popular and the available quota can be caught in a matter of days.  The days that the primary fishery are open are staggered to keep the fishery open as long possible while still providing one weekend day to fish.
